Yugal makes a new portrait of two real people, in the visual language of another time and place.

The traditions carry the history

Each style in our archive is a real portrait tradition, from the Italian Renaissance to the Mughal court and the Joseon court of Korea. We name the tradition, the place and the period, and we describe what we borrow from it: its light, its dress, its composition. We never claim that a portrait is an antique, a reproduction of a particular painting, or the work of a historical artist.

Your faces stay yours

Recognition is the point. We preserve your facial structure, skin tone, age and the way you are together. We do not whiten skin, slim bodies or swap in generic faces. If a preview doesn't look like you, it isn't finished.

Honest about how it is made

Your portrait is created with AI-assisted tools and then reviewed by a person before anything is printed. It is printed on canvas, not painted by hand, and we say so plainly.

Your photograph

We use your photograph only to make your portrait. Original photos are deleted after your canvas is delivered, and we never use your portrait publicly unless you separately say yes.
