The tradition

Baroque Court Europe · 17th–18th century

Court painters of the Baroque, among them Anthony van Dyck and Diego Velázquez, staged their sitters with drama: deep shadow against warm light, heavy silks and velvets, and faces modelled with real presence.

We borrow its chiaroscuro, its grandeur and its sculpted light. Your portrait is a new work inspired by this tradition, not a copy of any historical painting.
