The tradition

Renaissance Portrait Italy · 15th–16th century

In Florence and Venice, portraiture turned towards the individual: three-quarter poses, direct gazes, and soft transitions of light and shadow (sfumato) against landscapes that dissolve into blue distance.

We borrow its calm, its modelling of light and its atmospheric backgrounds. Your portrait is a new work inspired by this tradition, not a copy of any historical painting.
