The tradition
Persian Qajar Persia (Iran) · 18th–19th century
Under the Qajar dynasty, Persian painters developed a distinctive court portrait: life-size oils of seated figures with direct gazes, surrounded by patterned textiles, jewel tones and rich interiors, where Persian tradition met European oil painting.
We borrow its formality, its textiles and its jewel palette. Your portrait is a new work inspired by this tradition, not a copy of any historical painting.
